An in-depth guide to some of the best vantage points at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo to view the Valencia MotoGP.
MotoGP makes its forth and final visit to Spain with the season finale in Valencia. We took a look at the locale and the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, as whilst last - it should definitely not be forgotten.
The Spanish City of Valencia is the home of the Valencia MotoGP, the season-ending race hosted at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. The culturally rich city is the third largest city in Spain, and one of the largest container ports in the Mediterranean, making for a prosperous city mixing historic and modern architecture. Additionally, as the home of Paella, Valencia is a foodies paradise!
The circuit itself is considered a fan favourite masterpiece. Located just past the airport, the designers made use of the natural bowl in the landscape to build a track that can be surrounded with grandstands looking down onto the circuit. We've picked out a selection of options for every type of race fan:
For the start, finish, and pre-race
Instead of the typical main grandstand, Valencia has the Boxes Grandstand overlooking the grid and start/finish line. From here you can see the pre-race, start, and finish of the race. These popular tickets are still available for £148 per person, Friday-Sunday. These tickets sell out fast, so grab them whilst you still can. Click here to buy now.
For action and overtaking
The first corner of the track is the main location for overtaking, both at the start of the race as riders funnel into the first corner, and on each lap as the riders come to the end of the start finish straight. The prime location to view from here is the Orange Grandstand at £104 for a Friday-Sunday ticket. The Yellow Grandstand is on the exit of this corner, and stretches from turn 1 to turn 2, available for £100 for the Friday-Sunday ticket. In 2015 Valentino Rossi managed many overtakes in this corner after his grid penalties before the race start.
For the super-fan
There aren't any official fan stands at the circuit, however, unofficially Valentino Rossi fans flood to the Yellow Grandstand, available for £100 for the Friday-Sunday ticket. In previous years, Rossi has been known to stop and salute his fans there on the cool down lap after the race.
For the more dynamic views
The natural bowl of the circuit allows you to view many corners at a time, specifically the more dynamic turns that have knees touching the asphalt! The Blue Grandstand offers views over turns 2-6, with 2 and 6 closest to you. These tickets are still available for £76 per person from Friday-Sunday. The Green Grandstand also offers a great view of up to six corners, and is available for £64 per person, from Friday-Sunday.
For the that something special
The VIP Terrace at the circuit is based on the roof of the central grandstand, with an air-conditioned suite, private terrace, a 30-minute paddock tour, food and drink, and live music. This is available from £296 per person.
Alternatively, the best seat in the house is without doubt the MotoGP VIP Village. As well as prime viewing locations, guests can enjoy an exclusive entertainment programme and an outstanding catering service to accompany each day's action on track, providing guests with a memorable GP experience in a relaxed, stylish and exclusive atmosphere. As well as including catering throughout the day, this also includes a pit lane walk, and a paddock tour where you could bump into your favourite MotoGP stars! Prices start from £796, and are available for race day or the whole race weekend.
The tourist friendly city is full of landmarks and restaurants cementing Valencia's position as a perfect city break. An essential visit to the fifteenth century Torres de Quart can be complimented by a walk around the Botanical or Turia Gardens, while a visit to Albufera is a great opportunity for an authentic Paella. The central market has a diverse range of products available, and can also be a great place to stop for churros or tapas. No trip to Valencia can be complete without a walk on the beaches overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Finally, why not take in a football match whilst there?
