Despite being a temporary venue, the Albert Park Circuit has a plethora of ticketing options that cater for every taste. Additionally, located in the centre of Melbourne, it makes an attractive holiday location. Read on to find out more from our Australian Grand Prix seating Guide.
Formula 1 starts the season each year with the furthest of its fly-away races in Melbourne, with the Australian Grand Prix. Though a temporary circuit, the 5.3-kilometre circuit has long been a fan and driver favourite, winding around the lake in Albert Park. The fast circuit has a mixture of corner types, making it a fun challenge to drive, however the lack of run off areas, and walls bearing over the track make it punishing should you make a mistake. Don't let the open setting fool you, Albert Park is more Monaco than Silverstone.
The traditional season opener is a popular event for the travelling race fan, as the circuit is part of the sprawling metropolis of Melbourne. Capitol of the southern state of Victoria, the city has grown through time to offer something for everyone. Whether attending for Formula 1, Cricket, or a city break; the combination of restaurants, museums, markets, and art installations will offer all your need to take up your time outside of practice and qualifying!

Start / Finish / Pre and Post Race
The Fangio Grandstand is closest to the Start Finish line, making it the natural choice for those who like to be sat in the centre of the action. From here get the best of the grid formation and pre-race activities for each race. Before the Formula 1, expect all the start procedure including the national anthem, and see if you are able to spot any celebrities on the grid before the parade lap. Once the race has started, this is also a DRS zone. Additionally, you can view any pit activity during the race, before watching the winner take the chequered flag.
The Fangio Grandstand tickets includes a reserved seat for Thursday through to Sunday, and start at £254 per person.
Action and Overtaking
The Albert Park Circuit has three DRS zones, which in turn offer some great opportunities for overtaking. The Jones Grandstand and Brabham Grandstand both overlook turns 1 and 2, which have an incident packed history for both overtaking and accidents - especially on the first lap. Few can forget Ralph Schumacher's accident back in 2002, where his car was launched up and over Rubens Barrichello, making spectacular viewing for those around.
Both Jones and Brabham Grandstand tickets are available as Thursday through to Sunday, and start at £302 per person.
For those wanting to see more of the cars as they thread their way through fast corners, we'd suggest taking a look at the Piquet Grandstand. Located at the end of the second DRS zone, cars may try to overtake as they come round turn 3 in front of you. The cars then pass you as they make their way into turn four, passing your stand to the left. This area is also not shy of an incident, including Martin Brundle's accident in 1996 that ripped his Jordan apart, and Fernando Alonso's tap from Esteban Gutierrez 2016 that led to his violent accident retiring him from the race.
Piquet Grandstand tickets are currently sold out, however the Piquet Premium seats, available in the preferential seats in the stand, are available from only £337 per person for Thursday through to Sunday.
For the Adventurous
Albert Park has plenty of open areas available for race viewing, and you can access these with the AusGP Park Pass. These General Admission tickets allow you entry to the circuit to find your idea viewing point around the race. The temporary nature of the circuit means that crash fences are high, and combined with the flat profile of the landscape, you'll be looking through these fences in these locations, however recent improvements have added some raised viewing areas around the circuit. You'll also find large screens around the circuit by grandstands which you can also view in these General Admission areas, including around turns 9, 11 and 12.
Prices start at only £18, plus there is an AusGP Family Park Pass offering savings for those attending in groups.
