SINGAPORE FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX
Below you will find reviews, ratings, and tips on the circuit from other race fans.
I've come back to bookf1 to get tickets for this years Budapest race, (having used them in 2008 for the 1st night race) & decided to post a "late" review.
I didn't originally intend to watch qualifying - having only landed a few ours before. Switched on ESPN, Baseball was on prior to qualifying - this made up my mind to go watch :o)
Looking at the circuit map supplied with the ticket pack & realised there was a courtesy bus @ Lavender MRT station- 100yards up the road where I was staying. This went to Gate1
As I walked through the park to Gate1, I happened to looked at the small print on the ticket & realised Gate1 wasn't general admission -D'oP!
Wen't back to Lavender MRT, its just 2 stops to City Hall and you exit the station at Gate3 - couldn't be easier.
Watched Qualifying & Race at Turn8, between Stamford Grandstand and the big screen. As with any race - You need a screen to look at to keep on top of pitstops (& laugh at Ferraris driving down them with Fuel lines attached
)
You can actually just see through to Turn14 - to see if any overtakes have happend after they've passed you. There's also a crossing over to Turn 14 (Watch the Porsche support race here & treated to a few spinners)
Hints: (or common sense?)
You can speed up queuing through security by using the "no bag" speed lane. Just take camera and plenty of Water - 30degs at 10pm :o)
Also, buy your return metro ticket as you get off on arrival, this'll save you queuing with the masses when you leave - (worked that one at Qualifying & worked a treat raceday)
From memory it was $2 each way - with $1 refund on ticket retun.
MRT to airport is easy and dirt cheap. MRT Lavender has a direct tube every couple of hours or so, as there's a fork in the track (main termination is Pasir Ris). Just get on any tube to Pasir Ris, jump off at the fork (Tanah Merah) and get one of the tubes that do the final 2 stops to the airport (every 5 mins or so) - Easy!
Singapoure is probably the cleanest and frendliest place you could ever go.
I'll never forget the weekend.
(PS - Does anyone want to swap a framed print I bought the other year of Alsonos win, for a print they have of Rosberg?)

Recently returned from a fantastic holiday, which included attending the Singapore race weekend. A truly beautiful and fascinating city, to which I intend to return.
The spectacle of the night race was undoubtedly impressive, and circuit facilities were excellent; many FREE stages (saw Travis, Chaka Khan, and the Backstreet Boys ... plus "Strange Fruit" ... mesmerising), plenty of refreshment tents (accepted ... with inflated, but not exorbitant, prices - IMHO), ample large screens, and clear commentary from the PA system (I never felt the need to hire a "Kangaroo TV").
Personally, unlike others, I'd no complaints regarding the access arrangements (accept it ... you'll be walking a lot in the city anyway; alternatively, I found the MRT underground system to be cheap, efficient, punctual and safe).
Seated at the turn 2 stand (block E, closest to turn 3), the view could have been better (especially given the price of the tickets). If we'd been in block A, for example, we'd have been able to see the whole length of the pit straight, plus get a glimpse of the garages. As it was, we did get a great view of Nico's pit exit error, plus Marky-Mark reverse-parked immediately in front of us.
Relatively minor, but ... shame about the tw@ts in the private boxes behind/above us, throwing "stuff" down onto us in the "cheap" seats.
As the first night race ever in Formula 1 this was an unbelievable event and the total experience was fantastic. Thumbs up for Singapore for what they have achieved with this event. Off track entertainment was also of the highest quality, everything being within walking distance within the confines of the track. Being a street circuit it is important to pick your seating well, as you can sometimes lose sight of the racing cars on track should the crowd be upstanding. With a couple of bumps removed from the track and a kerb or two flattened it will be a truly remarkable race track. Pity to hear that the venue will move to a purpose built facility nearer to the airport from 2012. Well done Singapore on an event that can be highly recommended to all true Formula 1 fans - this is really an event you should attend!
The grand prix itself what excellent, one of the best i have been to, would recommend this circuit to everyone, we where sat on the bay grand stand which saw quiet abit of action, also had two giant tv screen so you did not miss any of the action.
the only problem was that it was not very well sign posted how to get to your gate and the police and circuit helpers did not know where to send you, so sent quite a bit of time walking in circles , i put this down to it being thier 1st gp. so hopefully this will improve in the future gp's thier.
if anyone is going in the future here are a few tips to help.
if buying tickets for the bay grand stand, the enter via gate 3, not 2 or 7, it is only a five minute walk to stand. other gates take 20mins+.
if taking taxi to circuit asked to be dropped of at the Swiss hotel which is right outside gate 3.
if getting taxi after gp then pre-booked one or take a phone and call one straight after gp has finished, otherwise a long wait you will have,
you are aloud to take drink and food into circuit even on official paperwork you receive says not to.
i will be go back and do singapore gp agin. really enjpyed myself.
also had no problems with booking tickets using this site bookf1.com would recommend.
was really pleased with the service and was very helpful with any information that i needed , tickets arrived as stated and had a really great time. would book again definatley.thanksx
A superb effort for a first Grand prix, and transport well organised
We have just returned from Singapore and had a marvellous time. My only point of criticism is the fact that the large screens were turned off immediately after the race. We like to hear and see the after race comments and it would have been much more preferable to be able to stay a while longer and leave when a large amount of the fans had left. This also helps older people who have walking difficulties and make a hugh effort to attend the events. Otherwise - fabulous.
