As a result of recent civil unrest in Bahrain, Formula One Management have taken the decision to cancel the 2011 Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix.
"We must focus on immediate issues of national interest and leave the hosting to a later date," said Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa.
If the situation in Bahrain improves, the race may be re-scheduled by the FIA to a later date in the 2011 season.
The cancellation of the Bahrain race now means that the season will open in Melbourne at the 2011 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
