6th July 2012
As further information emerges from Silverstone, the circuit have updated their advice for Saturday visitors. Silverstone Circuit are advising customers with a public car parking pass for circuit parking not to attend on Saturday. In an effort to recover the car parking for the main Sunday race, areas of the official circuit car parking will not be open and so parking will be limited. If you still wish to try and attend then we would recommend arriving as early as possible (circuit gates open at 6.00am) as Silverstone Circuit have advised that if the open car parks reach capacity, there is a risk you may be stuck in traffic and not get into the circuit car park. Silverstone will be refunding ticket-holders who miss the Friday and Saturday sessions. At the current time, no more information is available on this, but Silverstone Circuit will be releasing further information early next week. Please keep your tickets safe and if possible do not remove un-used stubs as these may be required for any refund.
Ticket-holders arriving on foot, camping, using the Park and Ride and other bus services, using the Silverstone East Hospitality Car Park, or have pre-booked private car parks such as Whittlebury Park should still be able to access the circuit - spectators are being admitted inside - but the issues are specifically with the main circuit car parking. Please note that the Park and Ride service is fully booked so only guests with a Park and Ride pass can use this service. At the current time, ticket-holders for Silverstone Woodlands Campsite with tents who have not yet arrived are being accepted at Whittlebury Park with their existing camping passes. However, if you have not pre-booked camping please do not attempt to use the campsites.
The full report including a statement by Silverstone Circuit's managing director Richard Phillips can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/18747889
Please note that this advice is for Saturday only as the circuit are prioritising recovering the car parks for Sunday. However, if you do decide to try and reach the circuit car parks on Saturday, please take the precautions previously advised including food and drink provisions, warm and water-proof clothing, and ensure your car has plenty of petrol.
We will update you further on Saturday as information becomes available on the progress for Sunday.
