Hungarian Grand Prix

, 13 Aug 2010
By Robin Gilmore
Circuit and facilities good. Plenty of staff, security and police.
Permanent toilets superbly clean. (Excellant teams cleaning all the time)
Free bus from underground to circuit very poor. Long wait and severe overcrowding. Consider busses were allowed to be overloaded to a dangerous extent. Even when overloaded the buses waited in 34C heat until their alloted time. Long uphill walk from drop off point to circuit. Buses need to be more frequent and allowed to drop off closer. Dangerous overloading must not be allowed to continue for health and safety purposes.

F1 Hungaroring

, 13 Aug 2010
By Amy
We had a brilliant time at the F1 in Budapest. On the Thursday we went along to the pit walk. This was brilliant but very hard to get to using public transport. We went to Arpad Hid but found out we couldn't get a train to the circuit from there. After a subway ride and a train ride we got to the village and then it was about a 2 mile walk to the ring! Well worth it when we got there, but you would be better biting the bullet and getting a taxi I think, especially because it is very hot at that time of year (July/ Aug). On qualifying, practice and race day we had no problems as the free bus ran from Arpid Hid like clockwork. This was a brilliant service. Food and drink at the circuit is more expensive than in the city but is not ridiculous. Also they are happy for you to take ur own beer, sandwiches in which I would recommend. All in all a brilliant weekend, and what an amazing atmosphere!

Not sure what this means?

, 11 Aug 2010
By Martin
A fantastic weekend, ideal to combine the racing with a city break to Budapest.
Our grandstand was well positioned as well as our seats within it, although I would not have liked to get any of the lower seats.

Getting to the venue was trying both the taxi journey as well as the walk to find the correct gate. More explicit instructions are required.

bookF1.com - Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix 2010 Review

, 11 Aug 2010
By Roland Salmon
Great weekend in a great city.
The biggest, indeed only, failing was the shuttle service from the Budapest metro to the Hungaroring. The buses were frequently very crowded, the last departures after the race were scheduled too early (leading to everybody going down at once to catch them) and the drop off point was some way from the circuit.

Exciting weekend

, 09 Aug 2010
By Marius and Inga
If starting from pit walk on Thursday, we were disappointed. There were so many people, it was so crowded, that there were no chance to see at least part of the "show". That all could be much better organized, autographs could be given more far away from boxes, on other side of circuit, people wouldn't have to stand in one big crowd. Some other show events could be placed on some other corner, why everything has to be on one point.. Thanks for a cold watter :) The seats under roof were almost empty, what was a pity shame for such a hot weekend, why not to have those tickets cheaper. One of the best things was the area of the general admission, you can be anywhere you like, you do not have to be in crowd as it was in Nurburgring. The latter one was inconvenient because you kind of had to stay in a balloon of cigarette smokes, and no way to skip that. Hungaroring is super for general admission. The Red Bull seats were very good as well, nice about screens to be close and it's possible to see the podium of the winners close enough on the left. Also, it was quick enough to access the circuit by car, and easy to leave. Thanks for all those good things.

Usual fun weekend in Hungary!!

, 06 Aug 2010
By Gav Dav
The danubius stand (I know one of the cheapest tickets) gave quite a poor view as it is a tad low down and on an angle to the available screen (but still quite easy to see). You could tell how bad the seats were as there were a lot of people that didnt take up their seats and simply sat an the very large grass bank area within the gated part of that stands area. All in all though a good weekend (now wheres that after sun..........). Cheers

Security guards

, 05 Aug 2010
By Martin Lunn
The very strict security guards do not allow anyone to take any type of folding chair into the circuit.

AND you are not allowed within about 6 foot of the fence, Beefy security guards about every 50ft.

Complete lack of atmosphere or any racing spirit, not a good weekend.

Save money and try a different circuit

Book F1. com does what it says on the tin

As usual a very well run outfit. Tickets were as requested arrived in plenty of time with good tracking advice. Lots of info in order to make the weekend special. Good links to and from the track.
The only downside was the pickpocket who nicked my wallet on the Metro system.
BE WARNED.!!!!!

A Great Weekend Away

Great circuit to watch the f1. Red bull lower seats have viewing restricted by advertising board that wasn't there last year. Take your own food & Drink - huge prices compared to the most European GPs. Although A Great City - Beware Budapest con artists and dodgy bars at night.

Graham Wild

Free coaches from the city were a great plus but a bit of a hike from where they drop you off if you are a poor walker like me. There were taxis coasting to take you up the hill to the circuit but don't know if these were a rip off !
If you book taxis in the city God help you at the end of the race, the queues were horrific !
Plenty of urinals for the boys, massive queues for the girls. Gents loos could not cope and were out of order. Not a pleasant subject but we all have to go !
Red Bull stand very good value for money, great views.

Good support races on Sunday. If the wife is not keen on the idea of you going to Hungary without her Budapest makes a great city break, book it and mention the race later !

Loved it, very very good race to go to!!..The Pit Walk is a must.... Absolute Must!!..get there early on the Thursday!!...Also Official cab service for 9,900 Huf from centre of town is very very worth it, as that's about £30.00 GBP and you also get to the circuit much faster through a VIP Traffic route... There is information on this on this site very very helpful..

Great weekend!

, 04 Aug 2010
By Emma Vincent
Fabulous weekend with great weather although more shade would have been good. I thought we had a shaded grandstand but was open to the sun! Not too bad as was right on start/finish line looking at the podium!
Facilities are good generally. Toilets are very clean, litter generally well controlled. Food as ever is average - not much variation on the spicy sausage, donor kebab or salami sandwich. If going again I would definitely bring more of picnic ourselves as prices were not cheap either! However all drinks were very reasonably priced and readily available.
Travel was good. Free bus is a little cramped but only 30 mins direct to Budapest city centre. Walk from bus stop is 20 minutes with last 10 mins up hill - if you are out of shape you may feel it a bit. Recommend the taxi service there and bus back as they were always on time, fixed price all weekend and drop you at top of the hill! Only took 20mins from St Marguerite's island to track even on Sunday.
All in all a wonderful time had by husband and me. Next time may be I would pick somewhere at either end of pit straight as the buildings obscure any other bits of the track whereas at either end you look across rest of track below you. However, prime view of garages, pitstops and cars on the grid at the start with all the drivers was priceless!!

The racing was absolutely amazing and the place where we were sat/stood for the race was great and we only had general admission. The facilities were great, however it is a long walk up to the track!

very enjoyable

, 04 Aug 2010
By Peter Mason
I'm not a Grand Prix fanatic, and this was my first time at such an event, but it was good fun. By all accounts the Hungarian track and facilities are a bit more basic than those on the rest of the Grand Prix circuit, but it was fine and had a lot of charm. Viewing was good from the grandstand (Gold) and the atmosphere was exciting.

Hungary GP

By Mark Sedman
Excellent seats, caught the train , the walk up was about 30 mins but two bars on the way (drinks are 4 times cheaper in these bars). We met loads of people and ended up with a blinder of a weekend and meeting new friends, included in our ticket this year was a pit lane walk on Thursday, this was fantastic. Journey was an hour door to door just remember to get of at Szilasliget as this was by far the best station to get of at.Be warned the food at the circuit is very expensive for Hungary

Could't have worked out better

, 04 Aug 2010
By Magsgarden
Everything worked out great. Seats were perfect, directly oppostite the start finish line.
Stayed at a 4* hotel, Alta Moda fashion Hotel for only 80 a night, centrally located near to where most of the drivers were staying.
We'll be back next year

HUNGARIAN FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX

The cost inside the circuit was astronomical - even by UK standards! Take your own water and food but otherwise a good venue. We had great seats - rigth in front of the start/finish line.

Hungarian GP

By Paul, Ben, Luke, Ray & Chris
One of you previous customer reviews states that you can see 90% of the track from the red bull stand ! This is a total load of b*****s . Acces to circuit very easy by cab £30.00 but make sure you agree a firm price 1st as the taxi drivers will try and rip you off. Race was also very boaring. I have been to 12 diffrent grand prixs and this is my least favorite although food and drinks very reasonably priced. Would not do this one again and Budapest did not impress me as a city . Great sevice as usual from the guys at book f1
