Airport
Sabiha Gokcen Istanbul Airport and Ataturk Airport accept international and internal flights. Istanbul is
about 30-60mins away depending on traffic and can be easily reached by taxi or bus. Both airports are also
near to train stations but there is no direct link.
Accommodation
The circuit is located on the edge of Istanbul so this is the best place to find accommodation. The city is spread
over a very large area so you may wish to try and plan accommodation towards the circuit. The following gives a brief guide to Istanbul:
- Asian side - hotels on this side are closesr to the circuit. Popular 5-star hotels include The Green Park Pendik, Divan Asia, Via Hotel, and ISG Airport Hotel, but a range of hotels for lower budgets are also available.
- European side - this side is more popular with tourists because of the nightlife and attractions but traffic congestion can make it a longer journey to the circuit. Within the European side Zone 1 is located along the Bosphorus and includes luxury hotels, Zone 2 is the Taksim area (main city centre), and Zone 3 Sultanahmet is the old city.
Getting to the circuit
The Istanbul Kurtkoy International Circuit is located about 35km east of central Istanbul. If you are travelling from the European side of Istanbul, travel may take signficantly longer. You may want to consider the following options for reaching the circuit:
- Bus - public transportation (IETT buses) run from central points of Istanbul (Taksim, Levent, and Sultanahmet on the European Side and Kadiköy on the Asian side) to the circuit.
- Taxi - taxis go to and from the circuit, however, this may not be viable if you have a large distance to travel. Try to arrange a pickup in advance to avoid long queues at the end.
- Car - the circuit has 20,000 car parking spaces which operate on a first-come-first-served basis on race weekend. If the circuit car park is full, you will be directed to adjacent car parks by the marshals.
