Spanish F1 GP May 2011

Stand M
By Glynn, 04 Jun 2011
Great circuit even though it is a good walk from the rail station. Walking around the circuit is relatively easy with good viewing spots close to the racing line. Be aware most of the grandstands are uncovered so be prepared to sit out the mid day sun. Food and drink selection is very limited, you can risk taking your own food in but be prepared for a thorough security search at the turnstiles.
Of the 4 days we visited the circuit, the highlight was the free (for those with a three day pass) pits walk about on the Thursday, when we got close to the drivers, pit crews and cars, obtaining several driver autographs.

Spanish GP Review

General Admission
By M Holland, 02 Jun 2011
Excellent Service from BookF1. The whole experience was fantastic. Transport to the circuit from the city centre by train was only 30 minutes with a 20 minute walk to the circuit. Facilities were better than we had expected and lots of viewing places with our general admission ticket. Highly recommend it.

Travel

Stand J
By Malcolm Colegate, 02 Jun 2011
The main problem is travel. The train will be crowded when you go. Don't expect a shuttle service to the track as there are too few shuttles for the number of people. You will not get a shuttle back to the station unless you leave half way through the race as they stop at 3pm. The walk is quite tiring especially when the temperature is 30C. Facilities at the track are very good. Stand J is excellent for viewing the race.

A great weekend for any f1 fan.

Stand J
By Carolyn Short and party of 4, 01 Jun 2011
If the spainish grand prix is your frist race away from the UK, then you could not pick a better weekend, i had a 3 day pass which inclued a pit walk on the Thursday, which was great as you can get up close to the cars and the drivers( if you are luckly)
Transport to the circuit was good, trains on time and extra trains on race day, the walk to the circuit took us a good 45 mins not the 20-30 mins as in the papaerwork, but a taxi rank is close to the train station, which only takes a few mins and lots of taxis were about to take you back, apart from the Sunday,ok we did stay to let the crowds go. Food and drink did not come cheap but you can take a pack up if you wish, just no can's, they will be taken off you.
And no one cared who you were backing, as a female i would feel safe going on my own. A great weekend and the sun was out which helps :-)

SPANISH FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX

General Admission
By Datatubby, 31 May 2011
Again First class rating with book F1. Take food and drink with you to the track as it is very exspensive, 11 euro for a large beer. Note: all drink has to be in plastic bottles. And don't forget the sun cream as it can get very hot if you plan to spend all day at the track. If you have a 3 day ticket make sure you go to the pit lane walk on Thur but arrive at least an hour before if you want to get that all important autograph.

Spanish Grand Prix 2011

Main High
By Walt, 31 May 2011
The view and seats were amazing and travel to the circuit couldn't have been easier Sigarles autobus had over 50 coaches on from Barcelona centre to the circuit at 8 euro return. The only downside was the lack of food and drink outlets, the queues were extensive, the choice was very limited, and the prices were as to be expected at any organised event extortionate.
With these seats i would recommend linking them to a paddock pass as the track had been securely screened off forcing spectators to go around the concessions.
All in all it was a great experience.

Great weekend. Seats would have been slightly nicer covered as it was extremely hot but plenty of water works almost as well.

4th visit to Catalunya Circuit

Stand J
By David Thompson, 30 May 2011
This was my 4th visit to the Spanish Grand Prix and like all my previous visits it was a great wekend. I flew out with friends on the Friday morning so didn't go to the track that day but enjoyed the sights of Barcelona (a wonderful city but be extremely careful with your possessions - thieving is rife). My advice is to get to the track no later than 10.30am on Saturday and Sunday to get maximum benefit and enjoyment. It's a 30 minute journey by train from Sants Station in Barcelona to Montmelo (the small town closest to the circuit) and then a good 20 min walk to the track. Trains run approx every half-an-hour. Give yourself plenty of time to get your tickets at Sants Station as it is extremely busy and purchase them for both days. At the circuit Saturday is less busy and there is more space to wander around and see the merchandising outlets and generally walk about. When leaving the circuit remain behind for a little while (have another beer) and let the crowds thin out before leaving. There is little point in joining the 'scrum' to leave as major queues can develop for trains back to Barcelona.

At Montmelo there are numerous street vendors selling a baguette and a bottle of water for 3-4 euros (depending on the filling) and this is substantially less than what you will pay inside the circuit, as well as avoiding lengthy queues.

From Barcelona Airport I would recommend the Aerobus if travelling to central Barcelona. They run every few minutes and it's 8.75 euros for a return ticket. The journey time is approx 30 mins.

A fantastic weekend!

Stand A
By Amanda, 30 May 2011
I had bought tickets for Grandstand A as I heard that this was one of the better stands to view the race. We were not disappointed and had views all the way from the start/stop straight and another possibly at least another 1/4 of the track. The large screens were hard to follow although we could choose from at least 3 in front of us. The stand was not covered , but the weather was so beautiful that wasn't a problem. We had a fantastic day and the atmosphere was electric. Definately caught the F1 bug.

Excellent seats & communication

Stand K
By Michael Jones, 30 May 2011
My son and I were at our first ever Grand Prix and had a magic time. We had seats at the top of Stand K which let us see the exits from the pit lane, first corner and beyond to the other side of the track. Big screens showed action elsewhere.
The prices inside the venue were expensive as expected but 11 euros for a large beer seemed a bit excessive, as did the Tshirt I bought for 60 euros (40 on line). But I did want a memento of the experience and bought it anyway.
The Thursday free pit lane viewing is a must.
BookF1.com were excellent for tickets and service and very helpful when questions were asked. Would definitely use again

First ever Grand Prix and the whole weekend was amazing and so enjoyable

General Admission
By Paul Del , 28 May 2011
What a brillient experience. We missed Thursday pit lane visit but spoke to others and lots of drivers were there for autographs and pics, so would try and get there if possible. Open access day on the Friday is a must. With access to all areas and stands we sat in various stands around the circuit, watched mini, GP2 and 3 and porche races and found our favoured spot on the grass hill for race day and experienced the first pass of a formua one car from the main grandstand right opposite Mclaren pit lane and that was unbelievable. My 12 year old son looked at me completely stunned by the noise rattling through our bodies and from then we knew the weekend would not disappoint and it didn't.

From Barcelona (Sants Estacio) centre the train system is excellent value T10 (2 zone pass) for under 10 euro (one trip can be shared which gives you 10 trips, so can get to track every day with one ticket for 2 people) going to Montmelo (track 13/14 from sants.. watch as some trains seem to go same direction but vary between both platforms, but note stops vary so need to check carefully does stop at Montmelo) and from there 30 minute walk to circuit..which is easy to follow.. Got there early on Race day about 8.00am at track for spot on grass banks, got our spot and had great view of the race. Banks are steep and just need blanket/rug. TV screens can seem some distance away so binoculars may have been useful as can get lost with cars constantly pitting and changing places hard to follow without the TV coverage. At end of race was a 3 hour queue for train but avoid, go to village of Montmelo, sit in streets, have a crack with other race goers, for a few beers and let crowds die down and got train about 7pm with no queues at all.. A great venue and weather at 24-29 deg does make enjoyable...

First time visit to Spanish Grand Prix 2011

Stand L
By Robert Bartlett, 28 May 2011
I wish to thank book F1 .com .You were very helpfull with information about, how to get there, race timetables and circuit info. The choice of grandstand L was through reading other reviewers comments and affordability. The view was brilliant, two seats for my son and I in row 51 out of 53.We could view the second half of the start/finish down to the first bend.all of the way up the hill and behind us if you stood up quick enough. Then back around infront of us as they descended back down the hill. Two TV screens were in front of us to view the rest of the race after the cars were out of view.In comparison with previous visits to Silverstone and Monaco there were seats and general admission spaces. Buy a T10 ticket for 2 zones at Sans railway station in Barcelona .as it was for two it cost 15 euros and is a multiple ticket which nearly covered the three day event travel.Travel time was about 25 minutes and then about a brisk 25 minute walk from Montmeleo station to the circuit.Or about 7 euros by taxi.Stayed in the Hotel Expo 50 metres outside Sans station but there was no noise the trains are underground at first.Take a hat and sun screen,28 degrees C all day.stand L has no roof.Managed the lasttwo hours of practice session on the Friday, arrived ,dumped bags at hotel ,then circuit.Itwas a good idea as we then knew where to go on the Saturday for 8 hours more racing and then climax of the weekend, another 6 hours ,the Sunday race finals for all of the different classes.A fantastic weekend, off to Canadian F1 this June.

Barcelona Grand Prix 2011

Main High
By Alan Grout, 28 May 2011
The circuit facilities were good as regards refreshments etc. but the F1 Village was very dissappointing., just one consession stand after another selling merchandise - No stands or exhibitions of any interest to motor racing fans. Access from Barcelona to Montmello by train was very easy and very cheap - ( €3.20 return), however the walk up to the circuit takes half an hour. Best entrance is via Gate 6 as you can then complete your walk inside the circuit on generally shaded paths rather than on a main road.

Barcelona 2011

Stand J
By Ro, 27 May 2011
I had a brilliant time at Barcelona. We had front row seats only a few metres from the track and also near the pit lane exit, so I recommend Stand J as a great spot. Of course you are surrounded by Alonso fans...!! Remember to get the train rather than try the metro to Montmelo, but it only takes 30 mins and the trains are frequent. The sun is blazing so make sure to take lots of water with you! It was a great atmosphere and experience and would thoroughly recommend the circuit. Booking with F1 was easy and straightforward and I will book again with them next year, maybe for Monaco next time around...

A fab weekend in Barcelona

General Admission
By Vince & Andrea, 27 May 2011
A perfect weekend in Barcelona, with two trips to the Circuit. Directions to the circuit from city centre not too great but we worked it out. Sunday was a breeze even if we did have to walk back to the train station from the circuit. GA tickets were ideal as we were able to walk around the circuit and find some excellent viewing areas. Very relaxed feel to the circuit and great facilities. A great first visit for anyone new to GP.

excellent weekend, a general admission ticket was great value for money. The Thursday pitwalk was a particular highlight.
The only downside was the distance from the train station to the track which was further than anticipated.
