Because I was a late booking, all other areas were allegedly booked out. There was a lack of toilet facilities which meant a 1 hour wait to urinate, highly unsuitable. Where were the potaloos? We had to sit on a dirt hill andd hang onto tree roots all day just to see a very minute glimpse of cars going by, unable to even get a photo. For the money we spent, it was a total waste of time. Loved the atmosphere, but were really disappointed with the position, and after attending several Melbourne grand Prix races over the years would never consider monaco as an option. Sitting on our patch of dirt on the hill and having little access to drinks, food or toilet facilities, we were amazed to see that the grandstands had empty seats! But, for 500 euros we condsidered this outragious. So, even though the weekend was amazing, our position was crap and we will never consider M onaco again as an option. Give me Melbourne corporate seats anyday over this.
We were in the K Stand (High + had Brilliant seats) & enjoyed a really good view over the Marina as well as some of the Track, we could not see the Pit Lane were we were (we knew this before we got there), but we saw a lot of action on the Track in front of us.
There was a Screen that we could watch also, but it was not as big as I expected it to be, but you could still see it ok. We couldn't hear any commentary once the race started as too noisy but you could still see what was happening.
You do need ear plugs - I found that the ones supplied that I ordered would not stay in my ears (Cotton wool may work just as well), but saying that I love to hear the roar of the Engines!!.
We did not stay in Monaco - we did a four day Cruise that stopped at Monaco for the Grand Prix, so cannot say anything about Hotels & Food etc. - our Cruise Ship was excellent & we were Tendered in - it was quite a walk though if you had Mobility problems (approx 1/2 hour walk depending on the Stand you were aiming for), & we missed the signs to the K Stand to start with - but there were plenty of Police & Guides to Direct you to the right area's.
At the start of the race everyone started to stand up at the front as soon as the cars came into view to take photo's forcing people behind them to also stand up to see as their view was restricted - but this was controlled very quickly by the Ticket Stand Staff so everyone remained seated & could see the race.
Quite long queues for food & drinks under the Stands, but they did seem to move quite quickly & lots of people walking around selling programmes (10 Euro's).
On leaving the Stands it was very crowded & took quite a while to exit - but it was very organised & orderly due to the Ticket Stand Staff's Directions & monitoring.
We enjoyed a Brilliant day at the Monaco Grand Prix that will not be forgotten very quickly & would love to repeat the experience again one day.
