Transportation

K1
By Ernest Lopez, 28 Apr 2011
Managed to get to the circuit using the KTM plus coach,it was total chaos when returning to Kuala Lumpur due to traffic jam and the bus driver lost his way on 2 occasions. Left the circuit at 18.30hr and got into Kuala Lumpur around 23,00hr.Next time I will take the KLIA express, then coach or taxi to the circuit. This was my first visit to Sepang and the view from K1 was fantastic.

2011 Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix

K1
By Linda and Douglas Wallace, 27 Apr 2011
Only attended on Race Day. Travelled by KLIA Transit from KL Central buying a one day return ticket for RM50 per person.(2 and 3 day packages were also available) This included the Express Train and Shuttle bus to outside the Sepang Circuit where we were then transferred to another shuttle bus to the Circuit itself. All of this was very well organised. We were advised by people who had attended the previous two days, that after the Race to avoid delays leaving the Circuit, to miss out the last Shuttle and walk to where the first bus dropped us off to pick up our transfer back to the KLIA Express. This was an excellent tip as we were able to beat the queues and get away quickly. The K1 stand gave us excellent viewing for the money we paid although the screen (we could only see one) was very small and was only visible when using binoculars. You were not allowed food or drink into the Circuit but there was plenty of food available inside at reasonable prices.

Magnificent Malaysia

Garnet
By Paul, 26 Apr 2011
The race weekend was amazing, we had seats in the Garnet zone & whilst they weren't directly opposite the pits, had a full view of pit entry, the starting grid from around 9th & 10th position & the 3 day ticket included a pitwalk - very good. I managed to get a few autographs from some of the teams! Staying in Kuala Lumpur, it was a little tedious getting there. We went on the KLIA (express train) that ran from the centre of KL to the airport, then transferred to a bus. However the traffic was really bad (as expected) & it took 4 hours to do an hour trip on the day of qualifying. However the day of the race was suprisingly better, only 1 hour & a half! We paid £50 for 3 full days for using the train & shuttle bus service. I love Kuala Lumpur - amazing city, loads to do & around the F1 weekend there's loads of discounts, promotions & events that are generally free! Amazing time,l I would highly recommend - if you can afford the plane fare!

4 star -

G
By Lyn and Derek Brown, 24 Apr 2011
Our seats were great. We bought the special headsets so we could hear the commentary but they did not work in our stand. We could see a Television but there was no audio which was a little disappointin
g. It did take us 4 hours to get back into KL on a coach as the busses were always full as they passed our pickup point.
Overall we had a fantastic time and will definitely do it again.

malyasian GP ruby seat view

Ruby
By Paul Slingsby, 23 Apr 2011
The seats were choosen as they stated thye had TV and score board view. From the location in ruby wher i was seated this was not the case. The TV was to far away to be visable and was partially blocked by the signage over the track. the score board view was of the end support so it was unreadable.

Malaysian GP 2011

K1
By Evso, 22 Apr 2011
Yet again Sepeng proves to be a great place to watch F1. We attended last years race also and this is a great place to experience the race. We were in K1 both times the view is amazing and the sound of the cars approaching T1 at race start is unbelievable. We found best way to get to circuit is share a taxi cost between £50 - £75 return shared by four/five isn't bad as circuit is some way from KL, driver will drop off and meet you after race, swop mobile numbers, seems to work well in our experience. You can get a train from KL to the airport with shuttle to circuit also but the crowds a big and you may not get back to town till after 9-00pm on race days. great experience all round Book F1 good service particurlarly if you get the early bird deal.

Sepang 2011

F
By Hector, 19 Apr 2011
The whole weekend was going fantasticaly until race day. It seemed that all of the local community had been let in and the steps were their seating, ticket's why do ypu need a ticket if your a local. If there had been an emergemcy I have no doubt getting out from the stand would have been interesting.
Mr Ecclestone needs to get his army organised and make sure he understands what he has got where when he critisizes circuits.

Course was great, however the TV screens are too little, best place: diamond

Crystal
By Sabine & Tobias, 17 Apr 2011
The TV screens could have been bigger, or at least the written contents. I couldn't see any names clearly.

If I would be going again, I would choose a seat in the above ranges, e.g. diamond. They told us that you could see the whole track. We think that a place in the upper rows would have been the best.

Grand Prix first timer

F
By Sally, 15 Apr 2011
Great experience but if you are seated in stand F leave as quickly as you can at the end of the race or qualifying to catch the internal bus because every subsequent bus will be full and wont stop to pick you up and you will either have a very long wait or a very long walk.

Nice track - poor information and services

F
By Niki Hobson, 13 Apr 2011
Sepang was not expecting a lot of people on Friday and so not all gates were open. As Gate F was open we walked around to find our seats (no shuttle buses were running) after being refusing entrance with bottles of Sepang water bought from the welcome area we were forced to throw the water away. They did not inform us there was no drinking facilities within this area and so we had a long walk back through Malaysia's heat and humidity just to buy more water which ruined our day.
Saturday had food and drink outlets open but not enough Shuttle buses running and we encountered very long waits.
Sunday was well organised and encountered no problems - a shame about Friday as it ruined the experience.

Malaysian GP

K1
By Paul, Mark and Ben from Kings Hill , 13 Apr 2011
Second year running here for us, had seats in K1 and the view is great. KL fantastic city. Cabs to and from the circuit from KL £15.00 each way. Only downside is not enough off track entertainment, even the food had improved (slightly) from last year, the fish & chips were great. Overall Great seats, great city, great people will be back next year. Excellent service as always from you guys at book f1

No commentary?

F
By Les Bentley, 13 Apr 2011
The stand was good value for money. However, the lack of commentary facility made it difficult to follow the event. The display screen was not large enough; so the placings, ceremony. results etc could not be read unless you had binoculars. One example was the introductions on the pre race grid could not be heard due to the lack of commentary facility. No food or water was aloud however, it was permitted for people to sell these in the approach to the main entrance only for ticket holders to throw it in the rubbish bin before entry.
Your ticket collection system and e-mail system worked well!!!

Relax, keep cool, enjoy!

K1
By Theresa, 12 Apr 2011
We stayed at an airport hotel to avoid going to and from central KL. Getting to the circuit was no problem (hotel shuttle) but getting away was a bit chaotic, especially on race day: a taxi driver approached us day 1, we went to a taxi day 2, race day was madness, so be prepared to go with the flow/improvise! As of Saturday, there is no going through the turnstiles across The Mall, even to buy food from the stalls along there, meaning we were limited to either the restaurant or a stall next to the K1 grandstand (good but not varied). Shop on Friday, the crowds on the other 2 days were dense. Have good ear-protection - the roofs seem to stop the noise dispersing and the little spongy ear plugs just aren't up to the job. Loos were ok. Overall...a good weekend.

Track position

Tower 1 (Lower)
By Jane Ronsley, 12 Apr 2011
No track screen and unable to hear commentary. Not supervised in this area so a bit of a free for all! No ticket holder supplied by your company so makes it awkward to keep tickets safe!

Sepang

K1
By MO, 12 Apr 2011
Where do I start? The whole experience was spoilt by the appalling facilities. The screen was minute and impossible to see placings, the loudspeakers did not work and the board with race positions was obscurred by trees.Food dreadful and the drink ran out even though all drinks were being confiscated at the gate.I complained to the customer services manager Yap Chee Kee about the problems. He expressed surprise that no one had noticed the overgrown trees! He assured me the loudspeakers and position board would be sorted by race day.On Sunday the trees were lopped and you could see position 1 to 5 at least. No loudspeakers but the way they are positioned facing upwards I imagine they are full of water which is why they are not working. The transport to and from the circuit is organised chaos. We had to travel at least 30 mins the other way to do a u turn to get on the correct road.It is a shame because the circuit itself is excellent, seat position great and the race was brilliant.Unless the Malaysians get their act together I will not be returning and I am not surprised the event was not sold out.

Great Time at Race

F
By Jim in the Western USA, 12 Apr 2011
The three day ticket for grandstand F very nice. I could see the cars for a total of 53 seconds on a 1 minute, 40 second lap. Only problem I encountered was the idiots leaving their seats during the race for a beer or bathroom break. People moving around blocks the view for real fans. Suggest Block L or M of Grandstand F is the middle or the row (seat 8 thru 12 or so). Friday was open seating around the track so I stayed in the main grandstand area to take most of my photos and videos. BRING EAR PLUGS. Water bottles taken from bags on entrance to track. Water was RM5, Beer was RM15, Lunch items were RM15. Team shirts very expensive. BookF1.com is very professional organization. Looking forward to another race sometime. KLIA transit provides a very good service to the from KL Sentral to the track and back for RM120 ($40 USD). Train and bus service for three days. 1.5 hours each way on Friday and Saturday and 3.5 hours return on race day. Take the Monorail to KL Sentral if you are staying in Bukit Bintang area. A very good food court in the basement of the L10 Shopping Center.
