Great race, terrible traffic

F
By Alan Mc, 12 Apr 2011
Sepang is a wonderful circuit with great views of the track. We were in Grandstand F Block L and could see both straights either side of the hairpin, the pitlane entrance plus turns 5, 6, 7 and 8. It's steamy hot in KL, and the rhe risk of rain at any time also adds to the excitement (although there was only a light shower during the race).

The worst thing was the journey away from the circuit after the race. The coach ride to KL Int'l Airport took 2.5 hours (it had been half an hour the previous day) and overall it took 4 hours to get back into KL.

Malaysian GP

F
By Mark Gibbon, 12 Apr 2011
Had a great weekend over 3 days. The stand through gate F was a great place to watch with a view of much of the track. The only problem is getting to and from said stand. The buses are limited and poorly signed so you don't know where to go . It os a long walk back to the main area after the event.

Sepang is an excellent circuit for spectator viewing. The track is well appointed and is well attended but not over crowded.
Transport to and from KL is a bit of a challenge (c 60 km) but taxis are cheap and trains and bussed cheaper.

Excellent Race weekend, every thing went smoothly.
One thing that i would ask for next time is the opportunity to pick the seating position with in the allocated area, other than that we enjoyed ourselves very much and will differently use your service again

Sepang

Jade
By H, 12 Apr 2011
The seats were excellent, close with fantastic clear view to the pits. The race was good, kept in touch with all that was going on with the race through the big screen or radio commentary. Access to the track was simple and easy but getting back out of the race is a real chore. Was stuck on a bus for almost 2hrs in traffic trying to get back to airport from track to get to the centre of KL. Other than that no complaints at all.

Ok but not great

K1
By Jason Perkins, 12 Apr 2011
I live on the Gold Coast, Australia and we are used to the Surfers Paradise Indycar.
It is a lot more vibrant with lots of activities around the track of interest and to keep people entertained. There is on track demonstartions like stunt drivers, motocross stunt riders, display cars, and 2 different airshows, as well as fireworks.
All I saw at Sepang was the LG and Petronas tents and then merchandising stalls. Gave the impression it was all about taking money not delivering entertainment.
I also feel everything is too spread out.
Also it is ridiculous the grandstand seating doesn't have TV screens showing the race live so audience can keep track of the action elsewhere on the track. The only screen was on a truck parked 200m away!
In addition the K1 seating was dirty with black dust, and wearing light coloured clothes I stood to find my clothes stained.

Awesome GP, even though average facilities and organisation!!

K1
By Emily Watson, 11 Apr 2011
The seats for K1 were excellent with great overtaking views and general race action. The TV was maybe a little far away as I forgot to bring binos so eyes were a little strained! The general facilities at the Sepang Circuit are very basic with only a small selection of food. The majority of the food and beverages are only accessible for the fans with main grandstand tickets which is very disappointing. There are a lot of transport options albeit a little disorganised. Getting back expect at least a hour longer compared to getting there in the morning. All in all my best GP just for the pure on-track action viewed from the K1 stand. Book F1 were brilliant for all their service.

Sepang

Ruby
By Roisin, 11 Apr 2011
I was really impressed with the facilities -all modern permanent toilets kept a lot cleaner than Melbourne. Shuttle buses were good. The KTM train and bus package was easy to use.
Food could have been a tiny bit better although there was a wide variety of choice it was the usual meat and bread deal.
The no outside food and no drinks even water rule is ridiculous. However, had issues in Melbourne with the stewards on the first two days refusing soft drinks there as well- even though they are allowed until we kicked up a fuss so Malaysia not that bad at least they have a rule and everyone is clear about it.
Could do with a screen a little further along rather than all three being in the middle of the pit lane.
Support races were good and I think they will grow in number as the years go by.
After race concert rubbish- even the locals were booing.
You need earplugs in the grandstand due to the echo.
Overall a really good event and a great place to introduce someone to F1.

Traffic jams

F
By Erik Lidman, 11 Apr 2011
Being stuck on a double decker for two hours without a functioning A/C isn't the most pleasant experience... it happened on Sunday on our way home. We had bought the KLIA Express-deal, so I guess it really doesn't have anything to do with you at bookf1.com, but since you asked :)

Otherwise the weekend was practically perfect!

Race fantasitic, food and transport let the weekend down a bit!

K1
By Caroline Kirkhope, 11 Apr 2011
The view of the track was perfect from Q19,20 in K1.
The screen is too far away to see the times and running order and the score board was obscured by trees (the couple next to us complained and these were cut back a bit for race day, so we could see the top 5 drivers).

We had bought the headphones so could listen to the commentry so this didn't spoil things for us too much, but if you were relying on the screen and score board to keep up with race then I think you would be dispaointed, we heard quie a few complaints!!

The food at the circuit was awful! Cold burgers, hot dogs and fish and chips!! We expected some tasty malaysian food....the fact you weren't allowed to take your own water in was pretty ridculous, there was literally hundreds of bottles thrown away by security a total waste!!! Fair enought they want to make money on food and drinks, but in the heat of Malaysia you should be able to bring your own water!!!

Transport was pretty rubbish, we tried to get the sky bus but couldn't find where it left from KL Sentral, kept getting directed by everyone to the KLIA shuttle service. Going both times was fine but comming back was terrible, we expected it to be busy but the fact you had to wait inbetween shuttle bus and train for half an hour and stand all the way back.....they really should put more busses/trains on or be better organised! The staff were pretty badly organised for example on race day we waited an hour after the race to let the crowds clear, when we got to the buses there was a fast moving smallish queue, when we got to the front of the queue there were too buses, the front one was full so we thought no probs we will be on the back one, only to realise they had started filiing that one from the back of the queue, standing room only again, we waited for the next bus and glad we did as standing for 2 hours on the bus to the airport wouldn't have been fun!

Malaysia 2010

K1 Gold
By Jane, 11 May 2010
Great seats at the end of the pit straight. Transport systems good from KL - purchased the weekend package of train & bus (Very reasonable in price). Getting the bus from the track to the airport to get the train not very well directed, but had it sorted by race day. Friday free entry to the track - sit anywhere for the practice - Grandstands VERY noisy & seats vibrate from the noise. Not alot of entertainment stands, lots of sponsors selling goods. Food ok & reasonably priced at the track - not a rip off like most F1 tracks. No drivers parade prior to the race - had interviews on the grid instead, disappointing. Best to purchase the earphones for a commentary, as there is nothing to hear in the stands. Binoculars to see the screens, as they are smaller/further distance than at other tracks. Well worth the trip to Malaysia for the race - better facilities than Belgium for instance! Cheap, when in the country for hotels, food & transport. Enjoyable holiday & great GP!

The best weekend

Diamond
By David Bourton, 15 Apr 2010
Thank you for a fantastic weekend it was the best. The seats could not have been better at any price, the view was fantastic we were right opposite the podium and had an unobstructed views of the start finish straight and the pits. Worth every penny can't wait for the next time. 1st class service. Many thanks.

Malaysian Grand Prix

K1 Gold
By Ken and Brenda Wilmot, 15 Apr 2010
Very good weekend overall, albeit that the catering facilities did not offer enough variation and I suspect their health and safety rules are not up to much regarding the way they store and serve their food in the heat of their country. General overall cleanliness, ie rubbish collection and in particular the toilets were a disgrace. (We had just come from the Grand Prix in Melbourne, where the cleanliness was almost impecable.) Event support itenary very poor, however, one of the best and most informative programes I have ever seen produced, especially bearing in mind the amount of information that related to the previous weeks Grand Prix.
