Excellent Grand Prix Experience

V2: Zones 2, 3, 6, 9
By Dan Harrison, 12 Oct 2009
I had a great time at Suzuka and my seats were awesome. The amusement park was fun, the people are great and overall had a wonderful time. Be aware that getting to the circuit is a little cumbersome as the trains from Nagoya (nearest major city) are slow, crowded and the station is about a 30min walk to the circuit.

japanese gp 2009

C: 4-6 Upper Tier
By thomas, 10 Oct 2009
just got back from japan, I stayed in nagoya if i were to go again I would buy tickets for b2 stand also went by train like lorna. From circuit to hotel took about 3 hours .this year and it took 3hours to do 1 mile. Also, the cost of the train in nagoya was 1040 yen each way and had to stand on the way back. The reason lorna had to pay a supplement with a JR pass is because the train track between kawarada &
suzuka ino station is owned by a non JR Company hence the 300yen fee Also on sunday JR ran a specail train the suzuka f1 express at a cost of 2500 yen each way with seat . if you want to do a far east grand prix independantly,Japan or singapore is easy to do.,

2009 Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix

Q1: Lower Tier
By Sue Taylor, 10 Oct 2009
Extremely well organised grand prix. Recommend booking a local hotel if attending more than one day. Suzuka circuit easily reached by rail from Nagoya.

Great track and tickets but very difficult transport from Nagoya.

Transport - We stayed in Nagoya for race weekend and had problems with the trains. The main advice I think bookf1 should be aware of and pass on to customers is that train tickets to and from Suzuka circuit must be reserved asap from Japan. You can get trains from Nagoya direct to the Circuit and we managed to book a seat there each day by reserving only a few days before the race, however, leaving the grand prix there were no seats leaving us to queue for up to 2 hours to get a tiny space on a crammed standing train and taking us 4 hours to get back to Nagoya on race day!! No problems if we had seat reservations on the return trains. Tickets go on sale for the trains 1 month prior to the race but can only be bought from Japan (but at any JR ticket office around Japan - and JR Rail Passes are accepted). I would advise anyone to get the seats booked as soon as they arrive in Japan to try and get a chance of a seated train back to Nagoya as it really was hell - if you can book seats you also get a direct train back to Nagoya (40 min journey). The other issue is that they don't accept the JR pass back and each passenger is made to pay an additional 300yen to get on the train (Even though the passes should cover them).

Station - the location of the station is about a 1 mile walk to the circuit but is easy enough.

Toilet facilities - One tip for westerners is that the toilet facililes are mainly japan style squat toilets in all the toilet blocks except the main grandstand, however, all the disabled toilets are western and usually have little queue, and no problems getting caught using them, it seems to be an unsaid rule to go and use the disabled toilets if you want a western toilet.

Food - plently of food stalls with great choice and quality.

Drinks are also available everywhere and soft drinks reasonable from vending machines. Alcholic drinks were a bit pricey.

Kangaroo TV - well worth the addition in Japan as all notices and commentary is in Japanese. It is also worth reserving as is more expensive at the circuit.

The organisation is fantastic at Suzuka Circuit and no queues even on race day. Fantstic circuit.
Seat - Our seats in block H had a good view and were as excpected. The only minor issue was that they were plastic benches so were a bit cramped and rather uncomfortable. Never the less it is easy to get in and out of the grandstand so we spent most of the time when no F1 on, mingling around food stalls and shaded areas.
