Monzo F1 Weekend

Alta Velocita A (6a)
By Martins, 16 Sep 2011
Monza is a great GP track. Travel to and from Monza from Milan is a little hot due to being packed into trains and having to walk but well worth it. Also take the time to get to Monza town.

Difficult to get reliable information about trasportation and trasportation leaves a lot to be desidered. Nobody tells you how long you have to walk to get to the stand

Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix

Parabolica (22)

A superb weekend's motor racing although the only downside was the shuttle bus getting back to Monza station which was exremely hot and crowded even an hour after the race.

Great day at monza f1 2011

Prima Variante B (8b)
By Becca woollard & Andrew spencer, 15 Sep 2011
We had fantastic seats at section 8b. Really enjoyed the day. Had great communication from bookf1.com, they kept me updated before the race and gave us helpful information about the actual day with travel advise, location and what to expect. We stayed in north Milan and had to travel by tube and train to get to the circuit, the travel systems were really well organised by the city with extra tubes put on, the only downside was getting out, it was to be expected with the amount of people atteding the race but it did take 2hrs to get a train with the crowds. This did not ruin our day tho, rave was excellent, weather was excellent and bookf1.com were excellent and I would use them again.

Italian Grand Prix - good racing, poor attitude

Alta Velocita A (6a)
By Big 'D', 15 Sep 2011
Tifoso - not at all intimidating, very colourful and expressive,
Public Service Staff - woeful. Would not engage nor provide advice. They were ignorant. Much more planning required for the journhey to and from the track to be less sufficient on these arrogant people;
Track - plenty of room to move around, some stands for general admission;
Stand 6a - perfoect for the end of Start/finish straight,m and first chicane - worth the money;
Summary - a great weekend which overcame the service

An excellent 4 days in Monza!!! Thanks to Bookf1.com

Alta Velocita B (6b)
By Aka., 15 Sep 2011
Overall, this was a excellent 4 days, and an experience that will never be forgotten.
My main advice to anyone planning to travel to monza in the future is to plan your journey to the track, perhaps make a practice journey prior to the main events.
We had no major issues getting to the track via the metro (tube\buses). It would be useful for bookf1 to provide more info on entry points to the track itself, as there are several entry points near bus stop's ect, for 3 days we got off at a particular stop and had a 1.5 mile walk until we got to our stand. On race day having spoken to another f1 fan we got off at a bus stop that that was approx 10mins walk to our stand. The track is located central in a massive park so its worth checking the nearest entry point to your stand.....good exercise though!

Super scorching Sunday in September

General Admission
By MarkVEvansF1, 15 Sep 2011
Started early from our base in Bergamo with a 45 minute drive along the A4 and had no problem in finding the recommended area for parking in the industrial area to the east of the circuit which was well signposted . Transport into Monza Park very efficient, picked up on the â??blue routeâ?? and dropped a short walk (10/15 mins from the Parabolica) After looking around for the best spot to watch we went for the stands on the inside of the Parabolica corner which proved to be a good choice as the sun was behind us in the afternoon so we managed to get some shade from one of the big screens! Our experience of getting out of the park was very good all very efficient. All in all a very enjoyable day.

Great weekend, more info on travel to the track would have been appreciated.

Seconda Variante (9)
By Alan H, 15 Sep 2011
Ticket ordering and delivery went without a hitch, thanks.
Seats we had were row J, on the right hand side looking at the grand stand. With the trees next to here it gave nice shade on what were very hot quali and race days. My view was these were good seats (you actually sit on a concrete slab so take a cushion so its not so hard on your back side !), higher up the grand stand the better as you looked over the top of the catch fencing rather than through it.
Lessons learnt : We went on thursday pm for signing autograph session, saturday and sunday. Thursday was a learning curve, ended up walking to the track from Monza train station - it's a long way! Info on public bus services (with the tickets) that take you to the track/near to the track would have been useful - the 221 got you near to the track (much nearer than the free Black Line bus service operating from the station), although that service was heaving on the sunday. Think there were others - 208, 204 I think - but the bus drivers were less than helpful. Also, you need to buy your bus tickets before you get on the bus (available from the train station tobacconist) and ice cream shops ! Yes they sell the tickets in random places.
A collection point and drop off point closer to the track for the Black Line service would have been good - but that is an issue more for the circuit/organisers than the ticket companies.

Italian Passion

Laterale Parabolica C (21c)
By Helen, 15 Sep 2011
If you love F1, then Monza has to be on your list of races to attend. The atmosphere has not been exaggerated with Ferarri fans everywhere cheering on Alonso and Massa whenever they were on track or screen. Friday you can go anywhere and we watched P1 from the pit straight and P2 by Ascari and I think the Sat and Sun place on Parabolica was just as good with a big screen directly in front so no action was missed.
I had read before i went that food at the circuit was expensive it is was - depending on what you eat. As the circuit is set in a park, you will have to walk quite a way unless you are being dropped off by bus. On Sunday there were lots of buses from the roundabout near our hotel (Via Lario - â?¬3 return) and these were well organised, but they were thin on the ground on Fri and Sat when we had an hour's walk - 30 mins in the actual park.
Be warned that taxis are expensive - â?¬40 from Linate airport to Monza, â?¬20 into Monza centre on Sat eve and â?¬15 to train station on Monday am. Train from Monza to Milan Central was cheap â?¬2 (for some sightseeing before going home) and you can get a bus from there to the airport for â?¬5.
If you are in 2 minds, then just go - it is worth it! I am still buzzing and so are my ears!

ITALIAN FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX

Alta Velocita C (6c)
By sandra Halsey , 14 Sep 2011
Take a padded seat to sit on as the metal bars become very hard by the end of the race.
Take some cleansing wipes with you into the toilets as they are well used and not cleaned thoughout the race.
The entire race is a wonderful experience and is full of fun led by the Ferrari cheer leaders.

9/10 so almost perfect - 10/10 if Jenson had won

Laterale Parabolica C (21c)
By Richard Parker, 14 Sep 2011
We only have 2 criticisms.
Firstly, the ridiculous checking in and out by barcode readers. We arrived at the circuit and proceed to our stand. We have our tickets read as wee have to leave the circuit and go into the park. Walk along a road and then be checked in to the circuit again. At lunchtime, everybody leaves the stand to access the food trailers and has to be checked out. Buy your food and then be checked back in.
Why not have the food & refreshment trailers within the confines of the circuit.
Secondly, the price of food & drink. It was unbelieveable. Half litre of Heiniken was 5euros until Saturday when we paid 7euros. In fact for a cheese & ham bap & a can of Heiniken we paid 7 euros on Friday and the cheese was only showing around the edge, and was not in the middle - rip off. Consequently, we stocked up from our Hotel breakfast buffet in the mornings with rolls, fruit & yoghourt!
Apart from that, we had a brilliant weekend.

Finding the parking on thursday for the pitt walk/ meet drivers was impossible.

Signage to the venue was poor and proved too difficult to find the car parks on thursday afternoon. ( we travelled a 5 hour round trip and could not find where we were meant to park and left when we had run out of time)

Very good service, tickets on time and seats as described

Prima Variante A (8a)
By Chris Winter, 14 Sep 2011
Book F1 service first class, compared to others we met who had been sold fake tickets over the internet. Transport to the circuit from Milan was ok by train but getting back took ages. I am aware others had a major problem travelling on the Friday. Facilities were ok, seats and view excellent. Will definately go again and use bookF1.com In addition to the racing we had an extended week end in Milan which was great.

Monza beware of distanct to circuit

Laterale Parabolica C (21c)
By Hamilton Groupie, 14 Sep 2011
Race track fantastic old school..... info re getting free train and bus shuttle to Vedano Gate incorrect you are dropped off at the edge of the forest so have a good 30 minute hike before you get to the race track, also on last day free train shuttles back to Milan no organisation so all crushed into a small space..... 2 hour wait for train.
Tip give your self 2 hours to get there from Milan.... we nearly missed practice.

Poor facilities and organisation

Laterale Parabolica A (21a)
By Buf, 14 Sep 2011
We were hoping to get an autograph which was not possible eventually. It was sad to see the drivers could not say hello to their fans - we had waited three quarters of an hour in sweltering heat to get Lewis's autograph when we were told he was going to be an extra half an hour... We had to abandon that plan.

Our tickets were checked every time we were going in or out of the immediate circuit enclosure. We understood this was necessary for security reasons etc, but we nearly missed the start of the race! We had to queue to get in half an hour before the race, when the stewards took ages to check the tickets for several hundred people there. It was only because people started to push and shout that we were able to get in and see the start of the race.

We found the facilities were very poor - the toilets were absolutely appalling! The ones built on the circuit were disgusting, whereas the portable ones did not have any hand washing facility. We were unable to wash our hands for whole days. Monza is a beautiful, historic circuit, but something ought to be done about the facilities there. It was not fair for the thousands of people who had paid to be there. The F1 officials should go out of the paddock area and see what the public have to put up with for their passion.

We would never go back to Monza again; perhaps we will go to circuits where the F1 have got less of a following. The facilities may be better and the drivers may have a bit more time for their fans.

Transport to/from Monza a disgrace!

General Admission
By JohnHMadrid, 14 Sep 2011
Just got back from Monza, thankfully alive! On the saturday after an early morning flight from Madrid we dropped our bags off at the hotel and headed straight to the central station. Firstly, did not see one bit of information about trains, just overheard someone say what platform it was. The train was from before the war i think and was absolutely packed, we were like sardines in a very hot tin can for 15 mins. Then pretty much the same experience on the "bus"...by the time we got off the bus we are almost passing out, then discover that we have to walk 40 mins just to get to the track. Getting back was even worse and borderline illegal in any modern country..in a train designed for lets say 300 people there was 1000...with still more people trying to get on and no form of control, to be honest it was quite scary. My wife almost passed out from being crushed and the heat. Also a small ball was close to passing out for the same reasons. It was a disgrace, we are talking about a major european city not a third world village. 100 year old trains, no air-con and absolutely no control. Sunday was only made better by the police controlling the crowds on the platforms.....coming back we got a taxi from Moza due to the immense crowd when we got to the station. I expected more from a city, and a circuit that has been hosting F1 for over 20 years.

Facilities and organisation could have been much better given price paid.

Laterale Destra A (26a)
By Susan Staiano, 13 Sep 2011
Our seats were very good however there seemed to be no food and beverage provision that was between snack van (and large queues and no seats) and hospitality restaurants (pre-booked and ticket specific). So having paid £400 each we couldn't have a half decent seated and shaded lunch, snack or drink out of the blazing 35 degree heat.
The free shuttle bus facility to Monza train station was a good idea, but was badly signposted and involved a 2km walk once you got on the right track. Lots of people like us couldn't find the bus park.
