a brilliant experience

By John Thorne, UK, 22 Sep 2007
Our first grand prix and we turned it into a five-day holiday, flying into Malpensa and staying in Milan. We'd looked at going to Silverstone but we Brits don't make things as easy as they do in Italy. Free buses from Monza station to about 3 miles from the track on Sat and Sun, and on Sun free trains from Milan Central to a halt the other side of the track just 50 metres from the entrance (and back afterwards) just doesn't compare to UK where you have to do it and pay for it all yourself. Absolutely brilliant experience at Monza and would certainly go again. Only thing to watch out for, is with general admission tickets we found a lot of the track is not covered by PA or TV screens and you don't know what's happening in the race unless you fork out another 50 euros for hand-held TV kit, which we eventually did. It showed best way to watch is grandstand tickets but they're out of our price range unfortunately. Ferrari fans were brilliant company even though the cars did so bad in the race. As the earlier reviewer said - lots and lots of walking, we probably did 10 miles or more each day, so any ladies, wear sensible shoes. Also, don't plan on making the trip home too soon afterwards. We didn't get back to our hotel until about 9 pm their time and we didn't get up next morning till 10 am because we were so knackered.

the greatest atmosphere

By jimmymac, 15 Sep 2006
the atmosphere at monza is truly awe inspiring, mad capped ferrari fans from their own home.

We sat in alta Velocita A just before the first chicane and found the view to be cracking, a chance to see the cars exit the pit lane and attempt to navigate the chicane.

Do expect to do a lot of travelling (especially walking) to the track. We stayed in Milan and found various ways to get to the circuit. On race day free trains were provided from central station to monza or bissano. From monza station a bus takes you to monza park and then about a 45 minute walk to the circuit. From bissano its about a 1hour walk to the circuit. I would really advise planning your trip from milan to the circuit as the first attempt can be quite stressful.

All in all however the circuit was a delight to be at, the tifosi are in full strength at this circuit and make it a really enjoyable place to be before, during and after the race
