Hockenheim 2010

Sudtribune C Middle Uncovered
By Skinny Byrne - Ireland, 28 Jul 2010
Attended Hockenheim race in July - Stayed in Frankfurt, just over 1hr away by train - you can buy a special group ticket for €39 which 5 people can travel on. Transport from Hockenheim train station to the circuit and back, is well organised with plenty of FREE bus transfers. Getting around the Circuit and to your stand or general admission area is quite easy. Most merchandise stands are located in one area behind the main Grandstand, maybe they should spread them around the Circuit more. One thing to note if you are booking a stand ticket...Row 1 is at the back of the stand and not the front (lower) row as you might think. I had row 18 tickets and found myself close to the front row, watching the race through the security fence. Thanks to Bookf1 for another successful F1 trip.

2010

Great German efficiency with directing cars in and out of the area and parking arrangements.
Males queueing for toilets, but good to see females not having to queue. climbing steps.
Chose middle of grandstand because I struggle a bit with climbing steps, only to find that you initially climb to the top of the grandstand from the rear and then descend to your chosen row, thus it would have been easier to have selected a higher row.
Not been to Hockenheim before. Not sure I would go again because the race was very processional and consequently not very exciting.

Great first Formula 1 experience

Innentribune A (Zone 6-7) Covered
By Nige05uk, 28 Jul 2010
I went to Hockenheim for my first Grand Prix experience and have to say I have got the bug now and want to go to more!
I had a weekend ticket and stayed in Heidelberg which although is not far from Hockenheim requires a train ride to Manheim and then another train down to Hockenheim taking probably 2-3 hours overall once you have walked all the way to your seat. If I were to go again I would probably look to stay in Manheim or Scwhetzingen which is a lot closer to the circuit
The weekend ticket is great and especially enjoyed the GP2 and GP3 races as well as the F1. Got a good view of the TV screen as well so could follow the race ok, but must admit wasn't totally sure what happened between Massa and Alonso although suspected he had let him through but I was surprised there wasn't more booing so I am not sure all the crowd had realised what had happened!
It was great you could go onto the circuit at the end of the race, i was disappointed though I could go to other parts of the circuit apart from my stand during the whole weekend- I think it would have been nice on the Friday to see the circuit from different viewpoints as there were many seats empty this day.
Plenty of food and drink available. lots to see in th F1 village, and the Hockenheim museum is worth a look too for just 5 euros.
Thanks to BookF! for my tickets, they sent me lots of info which was very helpful considering I booked it all at the last minute!

hockenheimring is looking a bit old, but still had a great time. parking isn't too bad. took about a 20 min walk through the forest. well organised. seats were good. people friendly. F! merchandise is way too overpriced though, but overall couldn't really ask for much more.

Cheated by Rule Breaking

Nordtribune C Low (Zone 1-4, Row 15+) Uncovered
By Somercrew, 28 Jul 2010
Can't find fault with the details given by our friends at BookF1.com or the circuit, facilities at the circuit where great just be advised that when it rains it doesn't take long for mud to develop, as the title says all was great until rule breaking comes into play, the blame for which cannot be laid to rest other than with thoose in the cars and pits.

Other than that a fantastic time was had by all.... on the look out for next years trip now....

Hockenheim F1 Gran Prix

By Violeta Ivanova, 28 Jul 2010
Great organization, great view and good spirit:-) My advice is to keep covered places, becouse unexpected was very hot on the circuit. The circuit team is helpful. One of our places was doubled and stweard change all of our tickets with more expencive, with better view and most important - covered! If you want to not walk almost 3 km to the circuit should park on the highway A6 or arrive very early on the morning.

German Grand Prix, Hockenheim

General Admission - Spitzkehre 1
By Neil proctor, 27 Jul 2010
When booking Spitzkehre 1 we didn't realise it was a grandstand. When entering general admission we were not allowed to take our chairs in even though people with a lesser ticket could, so we had to leave all 3 new chairs by security. At the end of the day after having had to sit in muck all day because the grandstand was too busy, we returned to security to find all 3 chairs had gone. Gutted.

Germany 2010

Mercedes High Covered
By Tom Prince, 27 Jul 2010
A great place to go to watch F1. Easy to get in and out of with no undue exit delays after the Sunday racing had finished. A clean and tidy venue with good facilities and inexpensive. The place to go within the circuit is most definitely the Mercedes Grandstand area. The view is exceedingly good from the upper tier, clean toilets within the grandstand, entertainment outside the grandstand (stage with live band and chats from a couple of the drivers plus the Mercedes "experience" - an opportunity to be thashed round a short "test" circuit to show off the capabilities of their road cars) and plenty of food and drink stalls. All this exclusively for those within this Mercedes complex.

Hockenheim 2010

Sudtribune C Covered
By Diana, 27 Jul 2010
We have just returned from an exciting weekend at Hockenheim where we were so impressed by the organisation, planning and overall duty of care to those attending the meeting was clearly paramount. Despite wet periods, it was never uncomfortably muddy and fortunately long dry periods ensured it was pleasant to walk around the merchandising areas. There was a large amount of variety of food and drinks all available at reasonable prices and in most cases the staff were very friendly. Access to our seats was very easy, we had a great view of the track and also leaving after the race was not a hassle. Our only disappointment was our hotel, but sometimes that happens when you book over the internet. It's proximity meant we had to tke 2 trains to Hockenheim. The shuttle buses from the station were a great bonus and the drivers were firm but patient with over zealous passengers. The race itself was still thrilling despite the controversy at the end. Finally, just on a hygienic note the staff who cleaned the toilets should be commended for the excellent job they did. After 3 days and continuous use the toilets were always spotless. All in all it was the best GP we have been to and now we look forward to Monza!!

German rand Prix - Dont do it unless you get an actual seat in the grandstands..

General Admission - Parabolika
By Alibob, 26 Jul 2010
I was a little annoyed that there were no tv's by the Parabolika(general admission) viewing. At one point through out the race I didnt have a clue what was going on. There was a tv down by the far hair pin but nothing between the start point and that...
Access to the circuit was very easy to get to and from. The Germans made traffic very easy. Silverstone could do with a better system!!
Overview of the circuit was poor. You couldnt walk around and have a look at different view points, only one bit of grass where we were sat...
Anybody can access 'The village' and have a wander around and there is a tv near a main gate - the non paying public can sit here and watch the race whilst the paying public sat in Parabolika had no tv and poor viewing... this was a little unacceptable. more so the circuits' fault....
The atmosphere was brilliant - it was great seeing all different teams being supported and speaking with other fans who have travelled as far as we had.
Choice of food and drink was vast. brilliant food...
the only thing with that, the toliets for the general areas were few and far between.
I would definatly go again however i would make sure i had a grandstand seat so i could get a good view of the circuit.
I would book again with BookF1. i recevied plenty of communication about my tickets and recevied them well inadvance of the grand prix...

Hockenheim - Great weekend, lousy F1

Mercedes High Covered
By Alonso is a cheat, 26 Jul 2010
The tickets and stand and associated facilities were superb. The race was appallingly dull though - you can not over take at Hockenheim.
The Circuit is very disappointing. Normally with a 3 day ticket, on the Friday your ticket allows you to roam into almost every stand - not at Hockenheim. You are only ever allowed into the stand in which you have bought tickets. This meant that this is the only view you get all weekend. This is the 7th F1 circuit we have been to and we wont be going back.

Great Expereince

Innentribune A Low (Zone 1-5, Row 19+) Uncovered
By roysefus1, 26 Jul 2010
This is the first F1 race i have actually been too but i have watched everone one of them since i was a teen. however i have been to othere rreaces to include the IRL series. Hockenhrimring is located pretty much in the town of hockenheim which makes it very difficult to access if you are driving. the track does provide buees if you are camping or you can use the good ol fasion footwork. the seats are all great you can see ample parts of the track and theat atmosphere was incredible. the thing i liked most about Book F1 is the customer service was on par with the greatest. Me and my mates spoke no german and it made it difficult to ask questions aboiut things before the race (camping areas etc.). however when we asked the Book F1 support team for anything they responded quickly and were most helpful. All in all a good experience, however if you ca't walk very well think about going to another track.
