EUROPEAN FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX

In 2008 the Valencia Street Circuit hosted it's first Grand Prix. Located around the Juan Carlos I Marina, the circuit passes through the inner docks and surrounding roads of the city's harbour and America's Cup port area. The track is nearly five and half kilometres in length and incorporates 11 right-hand turns and 14 left-hand turns, with an estimated top speed of around 320km/h.

Herman Tilke designed the infrastructure and buildings including a 140-metre long swing bridge which links the two sides of the harbour and allows the track to make the best use of the natural features. The old port buildings are also used to form the pits and garages. Although essentially a road course, the designers have tried to incorporate all the safety features of a permanent circuit with spacious run-off areas and a track width of at least 14 metres.
