access was horrible. six people in the INFORMATION tent on saturday were unable to help me and my disabled buddy with how to get to becketts, what local roads lead to it, whether it was marked (it wasn't), how far from the gate to the track, was it negotiable for a 75 year old fan on a cane coming by taxi (it wasn't), and numerous race staff on sunday had absolutely no idea where beckett's was or how to get there. also, the bathroom facilities were woefully inadequate, there was no disabled bathroom, and you could make 10 times more money by having more full-service bars. one susggestion i woud make to assist first time visitors to the venue is to change the map on your program to show the local roads by name leading to the various gates. even when our taxi driver finally found the entrance to becketts, it was unmarked. and then the gate staff incorrectly advised us that my buddy, who hobbles on a cane to walk, would only have to walk "about a half-mile" to get to the seats. it was well ove a mile and there was no handicapped assistance at all. great race but you really have to educate your staff on venue access for the uninitiated who are spending thousands of dollars and travelling thousands of miles (from california, in our case) to enjoy the event.
We had a fabulous weekend.
I think perhaps next time I would pay a little extra and have a grandstand seat. With general addmission we had to get to the track for 5-30 am in order to get a descent viewing point. We still had a very great time.
