A-MAZING weekend

Gold: 3 Eau-Rouge
By Sam, 31 Aug 2011
I took my Mum to her first Grand Prix and it was amazing - thanks to your itinerary breakdown, we managed to get in to the Thursday pit lane walk and I queued for what seemed like ages for Vettel's autograph but he finally came out and I got it and loads of pics. It was hot, sweaty and quite stressy but well worth the wait! I would say the only issue with the weekend was the public transport getting to the circuit. We stayed in Liege, so had to get a bus from the hotel to Liege station, train to Verviers and then a 45/50 minute bus ride to the circuit. The buses went every hour (no special bus service) and we ended up waiting 2 hours at the circuit for a bus back after Friday practice. Having said that, they did lay on special buses on Saturday and Sunday and that worked out really well. All in all, a fabulous weekend and typical Spa weather made it all the more exciting. Great seats and great race.

Belgium GP 2011

Gold: 3 Eau-Rouge
By Steven, 31 Aug 2011
Gave the facilities three star, Spa is an old circuit and as you would expect thre are assoiciated problems, toilets being 0.70 euros a pop for one and the extortionate price for food, you can however bring your own and i would encourage everyone to do so. Race was great apart from lap 12 when Lewis crashed but other than that can't fault it. The grandstand at Eau Rouge for me wasn't steeped / angled enough so the view of the actual corner was obscurred a little by other people, standing / sitting up a bit cured this though and you could see all the way from La Souce, the run down to Radillion and then Eau Rouge itself, which at the start of the race is spectacular.

Belgium F1 weekend pole seating

Gold: 9 Pole Position
By Le Brun Jersey, 31 Aug 2011
Terrible lack of signposting towards Spa F. circuit. Every road we tried to drive down via our Sat Nav was closed, so caused chaos. Belgium stewards unhelpful, both on roads getting to Spa circuit, trying to find your car park you have tickets for, just wave you on in any direction to get rid of you, and in Circuit itself, couldn't be bothered to assist when you ask questions in English, just point you in the wrong direction...not helpful at all. Ignorant not helpful.
Pole seating grandstand, great view, shame that all you had was the stand and some portaloos, in your section, (no drinks/coffee/beer/hotdogs etc) no memorabelia either. Had to walk miles to get anything wanted. Only memorabelia available was outside the circuit entrance itself, nothing inside much at all. (Rogue traders outside circuit, with old/dodgy gear) so would rather buy things in Circuit itself. - didn't happen though.
Nearly got run over approx. 6 times by stupid guys riding around "shuttling the VIPs and paying guests to Paddock Club, and other areas, some in mini-bus, some on quad bikes, and scooters, pushing through pedestrians walking along inside circuit, really dangerous, they go MUCH too fast, esp. scooters/quads.
(if you have young kids with you, so dangerous)

No roof on stand, got VERY WET ...

Spa F1 2011

Gold: 3 Eau-Rouge
By Kevin - England, 31 Aug 2011
Good race though weather was awful. I recommend paying for a hotel rather than camping as the fields get very muddy. Facilities are poor at the circuit, not enough toilets, limited food and drink and very small retail area. Food/drink are extremely expensive at the circuit. Another year I would view from La Source rather than Eau Rouge, when the stand is full the view is greatly reduced. The road from Calais to Spa is easy but boring dual carraigeway, and fuel is very expensive. I would recommend watching Spa on tv, and spend your money on good grandstand seats at Silverstone, which is luxurious by comparison to Spa.

Excellent service. The weekend was brilliant. I was amazed how easy it was to drive and park at the circuit even on the Sunday.

Spa 2011

Bronze: General Admission
By Phil J, 31 Aug 2011
Pit walk Thursday-park at yellow car park and enter at La Source gate. Get there early or don't bother at all, as the crowd is massive.
General Admission gets you a good view. We settled on the view at Pouhon-good corner with fast downhill approach and plenty of action to see. Park in the Red carpark and enter via Blanchimont gate. You'll be able to get carparking OK on Fri/Sat, but book Sun. beforehand if you want to get near the circuit. If you don't book, you'll have to park 2Km away. There's a shuttle bus to get you to the circuit, but you'll have to walk back after the race. The circuit is fabulous and the racing good, the facilities are the worst you'll find anywhere. Take your own seat, low expectations of comfort and you'll be ok. Go off circuit for food (Just outside the gate at Les Coombes) , it's cheaper and better. I know everyone says it, but take wet weather gear, it WILL RAIN at some point. Basically, don't expect any comfort, expect to be taken for granted by the course officials and you'll have a great time.

Very good weekend but !!

Bronze: General Admission
By AJ, 31 Aug 2011
Really enjoyed race but facilities at SPA limited - toilets ere disgusting unless you can afford 0.70c every time you want to go. Food stalls very limited to burger or chips. Footpaths on map for general public weren't all available unless I jest met a jobsworth on the day ? Campsite was awful, said on web that close to circuit and water at every pitch - no water at all within easy access, toilets/showers disgusting.

Brilliant Race but.....

Bronze: General Admission
By Kim Doxey, 31 Aug 2011
Another brilliant Spa GP. but why they cannot make some effort to improve the general spectator facilities is beyond me. How hard would it be to terrace the banked areas to afford some level standing? Toilet facilities are still apalling and catering is in a time warp (and an expensive one at that). Has Bernie Ecclestone, or anyone from his team, ever been anywhere other than V.I.P. on race day?

Spa-Francorchamps

Bronze: General Admission
By Charlie Collins, 31 Aug 2011
First Grand Prix I have been to and will be going back. Will pay extra for stand next time as general admission was hard work, must have walked 10+ miles per day. You need to get to the circuit extremely early to get good view on race day, but got good view of free practice and quallies.

Everyone we met said Spa-Francorchamps was the best circuit to see a race, although circuit amenities leave something to be desires. Food was good, experience was awesome.

My experience at Spa

Bronze: General Admission
By Michael McGowan, 31 Aug 2011
The campsite was just not what i was expecting, the facilities were poor the toilets were a portable cabin which was thoroughly disgusting and not cleaned out on the saturday, the showers and other washing facilities were just horrible and not clean or user friendly. we gad to go to a service station some miles away to wash etc.

we booked bronze tickets hoping to get a view of all aspects of the track, but good views were limited and some viewpoints were blocked off by screens and getting from one part of the track to another you had to go out then back in which meant waiting in line with hundreds of other people. there was absolutely no view of the main straight/pit lane as bronze tickets were not allowed near there despite the map showing a clear road to it, we were told the map was wrong. the toilet facilities were small portable ones which were just horrible and if you wanted to go to a cleaner toilet you had to pay 70 Euro Cents. overall the track is a magnificent one but has extremely poor viewing for those with bronze tickets. i would have to say that that they could learn a lesson or two from Silverston in terms of entertainemnt, viewing and facilities etc.

Brilliant Circuit Shame about the camping

Bronze: General Admission
By Mark, 31 Aug 2011
When we booked the tickets for the circuit and the campsite, it stated close to circuit and water at every pitch! both of which were incorrect. we had approx a 1 mile walk to the entrance of Spa which was very muddy and slippy, which made it difficult to traverse. The facilities at the site were very much below a decent standard, with water very difficult to get the sanitation was disgusting, however the camp was fairly quite with most people asleep by midnight. we had difficulty finding the campsite due to the directions given, which said to leave the motorway at junction 10b, when we got there 10b was closed!! so we drove around for an hour trying to find 'FC STER' which we lucked across, it needed better signs and better maps
The circuit was good although it needed more toilets. All in all a very good weekend and we would go to Spa again but be more careful with the campsite we picked.

Overall Impresiions of Weekend

Bronze: General Admission
By T.C., 31 Aug 2011
I thought overall that the weekend was good and the racing very entertaining, the general atmosphere was of everyone having a good time. Food etc was very expensive but was expecting this as they have a captive audience, one comment is that if they were not charging 0.70 euro for a visit to the toilet they would not have men urinating everywhere!
Then there was the camping, i booked for the yellow area which was a field being put into camping use by the local football club. If i am being charged the equivelant of £35-00 a night to camp i think i am entitled to expect some decent facilities, not smelly portable toilets, one ladies shower and mens communial showers. As a booking agent i think you really need to consider what value for money you are giving your clients for the cost of the camping because in any other arena i for one would be looking for a refund on the camping charge. The lessons learnt were that yes i would go to the Belgian Grand Prix again and yes i would use book F1 again because the service on delivery of tickets etc was second to none. As for the camping charge well that money will be going towards a Hotel.

Great F1 Weekend

Gold: 4 Eau-Rouge
By wandy, 31 Aug 2011
The only issues I had was the limited choice of food available on site. Being Chips, burgers, sausages and waffles.
I recommend people to book parking; the prefered choice being Car Park 4-5-6 which were accessed off junction 10B, which was much easier to get to with limited queueing

Amazing!!!

Silver: 1 Francorchamps
By Shotton, 31 Aug 2011
An amazing experience which we would recomment to anyone who is interested in F1. Well worth every penny. We stayed 1/2 hours drive away and drove to the circuit every day (early morning - there for 9am!, something you have to be prepared to do to get decent parking!) and whilst there is always some traffic it goes quickly and you can park quite easily, if the police let you go down to Francorchamps! Sometimes they spread the traffic and send you to Eau-Rouge and this has quite a hilly walk. Pot luck, luckily this only happened to us one day. Our seats were amazing too, could see the first corner and al the way up Eau-Rouge so plenty of action, plus it overlooked the back of the motorhomes for a bit of people watching in between practices / races (made even better by the Mclaren motorhome being right infront of us and so JB and Lewis were seen a lot :-) and they wave every time). You would think that going once would get it out of your system, wrong! We now have the bug and will be returning to future races.

poor

Silver: 2 Spa
By Trevor Earnshaw, 31 Aug 2011
Toilet facilities were not great, prices for for food was mad ie £12.00 for a hot dog
no indentification on bus at the station to take us to the track . F1 stalls really expensive, we all felt we were being ripped off whist at the track
I think we will go back to Abu Dhabi next year far better.

the race at Spa was a great race

Amazing circuit and experience - problems with campsite and definition of 'Motorhome'

Bronze: General Admission
By Joanne Balmer Smith, 31 Aug 2011
We booked the 'Bronze tickets' so we were able to walk round the circuit and view from any point. Being a 'hilly' circuit this gave us some great viewing points. Maybe at a 'flat track' I'd get grandstand tickets so I could watch the race being only 5' tall - but no need here!
