Introduction

Albert Park is located in the heart of the city of Melbourne, close to Port Phillip Bay. This makes travel and accommodation very straightforward.

Airport

Melbourne Tullamarine Airport hosts both domestic and international flights and is located about 22km north-west of the city centre. Taxis and a 24-hour Skybus run between the airport and central Melbourne, or car rental can be found in the short stay car park. International visitors may find it necessary to fly via Sydney Airport.

Accommodation

Melbourne is a large city with a range of accommodation options to suit different budgets. The circuit's convenient location and good transport links means you don't have to worry so much about where you choose your accommodation, if you plan ahead. If you want ultimate convenience then look for accommodation around the south Central Business District for the trams or Southbank and South Melbourne if you want to walk/taxi.

Getting to the Circuit

Being centrally located, Albert Park is easily accessible by public transport. A detailed map of the transport routes and times is included with your booking, but you may want to consider the following:

• Train - the circuit can be reached on foot from South Yarra and Prahran stations. Alternatively, take a main line service to Southern Cross or Flinders Street stations and change to the free tram service.
• Tram - a free tram service runs from both Southern Cross station and Flinder Street station straight to the park. Each tram stops at different circuit entrance gates, so check your ticket for the easiest access to your viewing area.
• Bus - a range of bus services take you close to the circuit or into the city centre to take a tram.
• Taxi - taxi services run to and from gates 1, 2, 4, 8, and 10. This also includes spaces for limousines.
• Car - parking is not permitted close to the circuit during race time and so driving is not advisable. If you do need to travel by car, park in the city or suburbs and use public transport to get to the circuit.
• Bicycle - bicycle racks are available at gates 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10.
